When, where and what?

Any thoughts? Where would you like the next meeting to be held, which month and any ideas for topics?

thanks!

How about getting somebody from The Woodland Trust to talk about their plans for High Brede Wood, or their "Ancient Tree Hunt" project.

How about someone to talk about money making ideas from the woods?

How about someone from the tax office to give us the low down on what our liabilities are re: VAT on stuff we produce. For example: do we have to register for VAT if we make and sell ourown charcoal, post and rail materials etc even if we don't meet the threshhold. We have not been able to find out a definitive answer.

Having said this if the meeting is over in Ashford we might not be able to make it all that way over - the pack ponies (and the wifes donkey) are very slow these days and we might have to set off a week beforehand!!!!

Good ideas, keep them coming!

Darren, I think you missed on one money making ideas, we will still incorporate that at some point again, but in the meantime WoodNet are developing a producer group you might be interested in.

email Ruth

[email protected] to find out more.

Tax and ancient trees, I am sure we can do these...

and Greyman, you guys can always camp in our wood the night before ;-) we can't have a meeting without you!

Next meeting in the SE is on the 4th April in March wood near Ashford Kent.

Main leader of the day will be Peter Buckley - who has written an enormous amount on ecology and trees - including one called ' The ecological impact of sweet chestnut silviculture on former ancient woodlands!' See more of that here: http://www.bihip.org/species/sweetchestnut.html

Topics may include

woodland plants

trees and soil types

and other things that you request...

You can see more about our venue here:

You can camp in the wood the night before and get a cooked breakfast! We are planning events the night before, watch this space...

Make sure you put the date in your diary, we would love to see you there!
