Breathing Places presents:

Tree O'Clock 2009 as part of National Tree Week

World Record Attempt on Saturday 5 December 2009 Start time: 11am. Finish time: 12noon.

In four years we've come a long way... £9.5million from the Big Lottery Fund invested in creating new breathing places, over 9,000 schools signed up to BP Schools, around 9,500 breathing places registered on the Event Finder, and over 10 million people engaged in the campaign to date.

But that's not all...on the 5 December this year; Breathing Places will be asking audiences to do one thing for nature by planting a tree at their local breathing place.

The aims:

Create a 'big moment in time' dedicated to the celebration of trees Bring trees to the attention of a much wider audience across the UK Create new woodland, including tree planting for hedges and community orchards, which can improve the landscape, enhance wildlife, soak up particular air pollution in cities, reduce the build-up of heat in cities in summer and give a sense of place Provide an educational insight into the value of trees and woods Use trees and all they represent (strength/history/future) to provide a lasting legacy for the Breathing Places campaign and its partners' achievements

The ask: To achieve this ambition we invite YOU, our partners, to run existing or new tree planting events as part of the Tree O'Clock world record attempt.

Join us and help the UK to set the Guinness World Record for the most trees planted in one hour!
