Woodland Courses in Hampshire

Events, meetings and courses

Postby Chris » Tue Apr 08, 2008 9:05 am

We are running some courses in our woodland at Clanfield,Hampshire which will be of particular interest to small woodland owners.

The courses scheduled so far are;

26th April Woodland Flowers. This covers the flowers in the woods, their habita, and using floras, will teach you how to narrow down unknown species to at least the family.

25th May Tree Identification and Use. Trees will be identified using their distinguishing features, and their uses, both as timber and habitat will be discussed.

29th June Basic Woodland Management. We have several types of woodland, and this course will cover basic management and how they look in neglected and managed states. This might give you some idea of what you want to do with your woodland, and how this can be achieved.

All courses led by Kester Westcott BSc.(Hons) Wildlife Management. Each course is one day and cost is £40 per person.

If the WoodNet training is too far away, don\'t forget that the Westcotts in Hampshire do training on woodland management on the 29th June.

Thanks Tracy. We will be putting up another lot of courses soon. Anything anybody would be interested in? We hope to include archeaology during the winter, and may include a few more practical craft courses such as spoon making and pole lathe turning. We are just starting on charcoal making, so when we know how to do it, we may be offering that too. Other practical courses are available in this area, so we don\'t want to overlap with them.
