Unseasonably Warm Weather Affecting Plants?

Postby Wendelspanswick » Sun Jan 11, 2015 10:16 am

Unusual number of UK flowers bloom http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-30754443
Interesting item about a count of plants that are in flower at this time if year.
We have some gorse bordering our wood which is all in flower and no sign of any snowdrops yet which is unusual.

We noticed roadside daffodils in full bloom yesterday on the Esher Common roundabout on the A3 about 20 miles south-west from central London!

The tips of bluebells are starting to poke through in my woods. Nothing much else yet.

Everything deeply dormant in the wood, at home 100m lower and in the city some of my garden plants have never lost their leaves this winter and there's a campanula flowering. Snowdrops are on time- just coming up.
But it's started snowing today!

We had primroses flowering at Christmas and now have Hazels sprouting new green leaves. Weird.
