Hello All,

Sarah Partridge of the OBee Community Interest Company is offerning some bargain price shingle making instruction:

Like to make things from wood?

Want to learn green woodworking skills?

Available this weekend?

If your answers are yes, then please read on ......

Our next 3 day Shingle-making course at Orchard Barn is this weekend Saturday 12 - Monday 14 June. We still have some places left and would rather run the course full than half full - so we'd like to offer you the 3 day course for just £60 (the usual price is £240).

With your new skills you might like to help us out? Over the next 3 months we have a big environmental challenge ahead of us - making enough shingles for the new Orchard Barn roof by the middle of August - so if you are 'time-rich' and can come and help out - come and fine tune your new skills with us after you have finished the course (ie practice on our oak instead of making mistakes on your own). . Come and perfect the art of oak-cleft shingles, maybe get practiced enough to make your own hand-made roof? Judging from the enquiries we had at Weird and Wonderful Wood, there is also a growing demand for hand made roofing tiles.

What will you get from the course?

Professional tuition from Becky Westover for 3 days (Sat, Sun, Monday 9-4.30)

The course will teach you how to cleave local Oak into Shingles, how to split Sweet Chestnut to make battening material, and then how to lay the patchwork of beautiful shingles into a wooden mosaic of a roof.

Opportunities to get involved with an exciting project like this don't come along very often - especially in East Anglia. So - if you are available and would like to take advantage of our very special offer - £60 instead of the usual £240, please sign up asap.

looking forward to hearing from you soon,

Sarah (077660-54042 is the most reliable way to contact me)
