Radio 4's Book of the Week this week is The Man Who Made Things Out of Trees by Robert Penn.

It's broadcast at 9:45 each week day morning and is available for catchup at http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06t4khh.

I gave it a go but didn't get past the second episode. For my taste it was written in too poetic a language, a book romantizing timber produce written by an author rather than a craftsman.
Almost a 'Those that can, do; those that can't, teach', or write about in this case.

Hi Wendelspanswick,

I agree with your impressions about this book reading and maybe even found it to be slightly Shakespearian in nature e.g. "Much ado about nothing".

The book title is clearly plagiarised from "The Man who Planted Trees" by Jean Giono.
