This course which consists of classroom and outdoor activity aims to provide the students with sufficient knowledge to build a small, single story straw construct.

The students will meet, be instructed by, and be able to ask questions of four experienced individuals over the three day course. These will be the groundworks tutor, the straw builder, the timber framer, and the lime tutor.

About the tutor:

Jonathon West is owner of Whitelands Wood and runs the Whitelands Project, which is involved in timber mensuration, tree & woodland analysis, and CDM research. He is also a part-time university lecturer. He has long been involved in green building techniques and his latest project is a strawbale home for his family to live in.
