Tree advice required

Postby Pedrx » Thu Jul 26, 2012 10:31 am

Hello: am looking for a tree with as many of the following characteristics as possible and in that order of priority:

Evergreen, low wide habit, fast growing, ornamental.

Has anyone any ideas please?

Sadly I can only think of two (alien) species that fit the bill
Leylandi (would need to be topped regularly to keep it low)
Cherry Laurel
Neither should be planted in woodland

What about holley, it can be kept low or left to grow tall. Plus it great timber, turners love it!

Thank you Stan and Claypaws and sorry for late reply.

Holly is ideal though a little slow growing for my purpose.

Will look into juniper, euonymous, vibernum all of which are new to me.
