Just picked up these links on a BBC news page:

PDF from the FC: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/pdf/pest-ale ... k-2012.pdf

Web page: http://www.forestry.gov.uk/chalara

The PDF mentions several conditions that look like Chalara fraxinea but are known problems of a far less serious nature.

having just watched the scaremongering news this evening on the bbc - i can only guess that an awful lot of perfectly healthy, non-diseased ash trees are now going to be felled for no reason (out of panic) :? :?

i think asking dog walkers to disinfect boots, clothing and their dogs is not really going to help matters

Has anyone heard if Rowan trees have been found infected yet, or still in the wait and see stage. Have numerous sapplings growing under some mature Rowans so may be worth saving if genetically different enough to escape the disease.

Rowan is unrelated to ash, so no reason to fear spread.

Edit - it looks as though I posted this at 0041 but did it at 2241 - where does the time tag come from?
