Just visited Pond wood in Essex (for sale at www.woodlands.co.uk). Nice piece of larger woodland; Beech, Oak and fir trees, pond and very wide rides between plots. Not sure why there's not more vegetation where the rides let in light. Badger and Rabbit sign, Owl feather and a falcon of some sort seen. And loads of wood ants. Just need my bank shares to recover to a reasonable level!

That looks like a wonderful wood to just relax or study nature. Good luck with the shares.

Yeah caught my eye to.. (not buying now). The rides could be the soil..is it damp , or recently cleared of under growth. Are the rides near the conifers..Have they acidified the soil... are the wood ants keeping it clear... im guessing they might have an impact..

Pond is a real gem......... worth its weight. Good luck.

Had a look on google earth, the rides have been cleared far more than I'd realised from our visit, hence the lack of undergrowth.
