Courses in woodland management, coppice crafts and traditional woodland skills – course dates are now available for 2011-2012 at the Green Wood Workshop near Sevenoaks in Kent.
Now in their 20th year, the Green Wood Workshop courses are going from strength to strength, seeing a resurgence in interest in the more traditional way of life. Come and learn how to make and use a pole lathe and shaving horse, learn about trugs and basket-making, hurdle-making, charcoal and bees – all set in the idyllic surroundings of a Jacobean Manor House at an organic dairy farm in the heart of the Weald of Kent. All materials and tools are provided – and all projects will be considered! Most of the courses are run by John Waller, Underwoodsman, a skilled and experienced green-wood worker, coppice-worker and tree surgeon.
John Waller also sells traditional coppice craft products – hurdles, pea frames, baskets – provides continuous weave fencing and bordger edging along with living willow fences and structures for gardens and schools.
