SWOG members are invited to an exclusive day of activities at the Sylva Wood Centre, including a workshop in online mapping and a tour of the centre.
The Sylva Wood Centre incorporates workshops for craftspeople who work in wood; the Future Forest, a recently planted small woodland; the Sylva Wood school; and the House of Wessex, the reconstruction of an Anglo-Saxon building.
Kicking off in the Sylva Foundation Teaching Barn, Director of Operations Paul Orsi will give a presentation and online demo of the popular myForest mapping system. He will also talk about the Woodland Wildlife Toolkit, a resource for managing woodlands for wildlife.This will be followed by lunch and a tour of the workshops, the Future Forest and the House of Wessex.
The timetable is as follows:
10.30-11am arrival and coffee
11am Paul Orsi: presentation and online demo of myForest and Wildlife Toolkit
12.30pm Sandwich lunch and refreshments
1.30pm Tour of Sylva woodland, workshops and Anglo-Saxon house
3pm Ends.
