  • National Forest Wood Fair

    The National Forest Wood Fair takes place on Monday 30 August at Beacon Hill Country Park in Leicestershire, just off the M1, junction 22 or 23.

  • myForest – Online woodland management website

    The Sylva Foundation has launched a new web-based service that aims to support the mapping and sustainable management of woodlands, and provides a platform for marketing products from local woodlands.

  • Family bushcraft days

    Calling all Bear Grylls and Ray Mears fans. Get out in the woods near Battle in East Sussex on Sat July 17th. 10-3pm with survival experts Sunrise Bushcraft and the Woodland Trust. There are also bushcraft days happening at Hargate forest near Tunbridge Wells, click here for details

  • Festival of the Tree – Sculpture woodcarving event

    From Monday 23 – Monday 30 August Westonbirt Arboretum will welcome 12 of the UK’s most talented sculptors to the Sculptree woodcarving event at its annual Festival of the Tree.

  • From Woodland to Workshop – course info

    Belinda at Woodland Heritage is running an interesting three day course called ‘From Woodland to Workshop’.

  • SWOG meeting, bat and moth evening

    A big thanks to Rodney and Heather who hosted this very interesting and informative event at their wood near Northiam in East Sussex.

  • Phytophthora ramorum – update

    Alison Evans, Communications officer from the Forestry Commission Wales, has posted us a note which gives an update  on the outbreak of Phytophthora ramorum in South Wales.  There is also some free awareness training being organised for 7th, 8th and 16th of July, full details are available here.

  • SWOG event – Using your wood to heat your home

    This was a very successful and informative event held at Flimwell last weekend (22nd May).    There were three main speakers, Mike Pepler of Ashden Awards, Matthew Woodcock from the  Forestry commission and Nick Gibbs editor of  Living Woods magazine.
