Ok, no idea how central Ross on Wye is - but Paul and Andrea are offering a walk in their woodland on the 21 st Nov.
Speaker to be confirmed. Keep the date free if you wish to come along!
Ross and Wye - is very well located - and very accessible via main road, motorways and dual carriage way from all points of the compass.
Main road from of Ledbury/ Malvern, - in the north east
20 miles - West of Gloucester - On the A40
Wales - 10 miles of dual carriage from Monmouth -
South of Hereford on the A49
North of the Forest of Dean
and end of the M50 via the M5 - the Midlands/Worcester
all in all - I think Ross is probably about one of the best places to have a get together.
Here is what Paul and Andrea have:
15 acres of broadleaf woodland 10 mins. drive from Ross on Wye. It was mostly felled in 1984, but large trees were left all around the perimeter, beech ,ash ,birch, yew. The centre was planted with chestnut ash , birch , and beech. I want to manage the woodland primarily for firewood production, so I'll be felling and re -planting, mostly ash and hazel. Although I manage amenity woodland for a living, I would like to have a woodland walk, to get new ideas and new angles on things etc., and maybe others would find it interesting too
Hi,
Can I thank Paul and Andrea for hosting the meeting in their woodland. I would also like to thank Chris Johnson from the RFS for his enthusiastic input and answering hundreds of questions. I thouroughly enjoyed the day, and went away with lots of ideas about managing my woodland. Hopefully we'll all do it again soon. Many Thanks, Dave Howells
