which forum to sell firewood ?

hello,

I have some softwood to sell - a few M3 - should I post an advert on the Produce forum or the For Sale forum ?

is there scope for doing a for sale area based /sorted on area/county - on the assumption the "S" in swog is small - hence quantities might be small and might be best used locally ( hence based on area) ?

Sorry to say but surely this is the wrong forum completely to sell firewood, as all the members will probably be producing their own!
Local papers, Gumtree, eBay, Facebook etc would be a better option.

in that case those places would be great places to sell anything - does it follow that this web site does not need a forum to sell ?

I see the question still requires an answer ( unless the administrators decide to remove both "selling" places)

IMHO = The expression "nothing ventured, nothing gained" is motivation to try - I am happy to try,
and if this means more folk get to this site via search engines - I see that a good thing

As has been eloquently put, most of us on here own woods, we're not looking to buy logs. You need locals and a wider audience. I posted I had logs on a local FB ecology group page and had 4 orders within an hour, which were delivered and sold within 24 hours.

While this forum is informative on specialist wood subjects it doesn't have a fraction of the hits or local networking power that FB has, where discussions often take place in real time rather than a post every day or two. While I was cynical before I tried it I now find FB is excellent for building a base of local contacts to access services, find clients for woodland products (such as logs) and make new woody chums. Its easy to see why its so successful and has taken traffic from other forums and ways to communicate.

From the respondents replies - they are superfluous and are done better elsewhere.

Perhaps there are a couple of other forums that should go as well. I will leave yourselves to discuss that.

PS. have yourselves noticed how these forums are much, much quieter than it used to be - may the "customers" are wanting something that these forums are not providing.

I think what the general gist of the replies were saying......is that what most of the contributors to this site have in common is that they have no need to buy timber...they already have enough.
As for the rest of your comments...go and pick your teddy up and chill..
