I am doing a short presentation in April to the SE wood forum, lots of forester types - and my topic is 'Small woodlands, an owners perspective'
So, what would you like me to say????
I have a chairsaw - and I'm not afraid to use it! Grrrrr!......?
But seriously:
Cheaper and more available training
Assistance with getting 'group' Public Liability insurance
or perhaps that isn't the right type of question - not sure what they can help with really.
Greyman
That is the kind of thing. I was thinking of
Clearer planning guidelines
Permissive planning for small sheds/ storage and for log drying
Easier grants for stuff like improved access tracks....
and just generally trying to help them see that we are not all out to destroy woodland....
I agree councils think we wish to grow car parks or shopping centre but all we wish to do is manage woods that have possibly been allowed to be mismanaged or unmanaged. This is only acheivable by allowing us to have structures to stay in ie tent or caravans during the felling season. East Sussex have a draconian worry about STRUCTURES, have they had their fingers burnt in the past ie Ben Law. Well, talk to the owners and allow us to manage woods to the betterment for all species. We have to put up with horese riders, poachers, thieves and tresspassers without support so give us a chance. Mr Angry, who is really chilled but who wishes to appreciate his wood.
