What's SWOG's stance on the badger cull?

Part of my land actually consists of a set, but in Wales nothing is being done, to tackle badger populations and they're supposed link to spreading TB in cattle.

Not fully sure whether I would fully support a cull.

I don't think SWOG can have a stance - individual members may have.

SWOG doesn't have an official stance, but as woodland owners, many of us are against the cull. But not all of us... so , we chat about it and try to not argue! Lol

SWOG doesn't have an official stance on this particular matter, or SWOG doesn't take a stance on any matter?

According to todays guardian the cull has only been delayed untill next year.
I cant believe any SWOG member would like to see badgers shot in his, or anyone elses, wood.

And Thursday's vote in the House of Commons is still taking place, so there's time to lobby your MP - https://secure.38degrees.org.uk/page/speakout/stop-the-badger-cull.

Jennys mate.

Your view on swog owners and their love of animals is unfortunately a rather romantic one.
I myself was once of the same thought as yourself but I've since realised there are many out there who like nothing more than shooting animals....
All we can do is guard our patch from the onslaught, sad but true.

Weeeeelll, as swog is made up of loads of members, you lot, I guess if we had a stance of some kind we would need to vote or something wouldn't we???

I have a cold. and a headache. Not inclined to try taking a vote on the badger cull ;-)

Do you want SWOG to take some stances??

Thanks for the link Simon.
Hobby, I dont think I or any other SWOG member has a romantic view of this.
I see the damage rabbits, squirrels etc do in my wood and would have no qualms in killing the blighters, if theyre numbers become a problem. But I would hate to see even these pests culled completly.
I would hope the gov. would employ profesional gunmen. Those who enjoy shooting defenceless animals are beyond my contempt.

TB Has been around for millions of years according to the "recreating our ancestors" program Last night. (or whatever it was called, ch4 ) It was suggested that our propensity for eating cows was the cause of the problem. Not solved by shooting badgers, more by us all giving up cow meat and drinking rice milk.
