It's good that JL are selling wood vases, it's just a pity they have to clock up so many 'vase miles' shipping it from somewhere a lot further south than even I am! (or has global warming allowed someone on the south coast to start growing mangos).
I'm sure I could produce something similar on my pole lathe in sycamore. The one thing that does intrigue me is how they managed to produce it without splitting, cleft wood is always best I find. Perhaps I should try and persuade JL to sell my oak candlesticks. http://www.flickr.com/photos/lesgranges2009/4517348705/in/set-72157624759853853/ (The one on the left is mine, the one on the right is the apprentice).
I can turn a chair leg in 4 minutes so something like this say 120 an hour, sell at discounted rate of say£10 each that makes £1200 an hour, less cost of materials £2. Sums are looking good, as a good will gesture I am willing to give a 10% discount to anyone who uses this forum even if you think Squirrels are cute and furry. I think my bedtime prayer might be, " Please God lead the spoilt and gullible to my door and might they be blessed with oodles of cash".
