Look on www.woodnet.org.uk for 2010 courses run by Woodnet in partnership with Plumpton College at Flimwell, East Sussex. New titles include Managing Woodland with Hand Tools, Introduction to Green Woodwork, Introduction to Tree Climbing. Also charcoal making, archaeology, first aid, intro to chainsaw and practical craft courses - hazel hurdles, gate hurdles, willow structures.

If you spend 50% or more of your time in woodland management in the south east, you may be eligible for generous subsidies on the course fees - with many courses costing just £24.
