Trying to get rid of American mink in Scotland

I hope that this continues to get widespread support so that the water vole can regain it's habitat. It would be nice to know if some use is made of the mink pelts so that a natural resource is used wisely rather than just killing and disposing of the mink. I know fur causes controversy, but if you are going to take the life of an animal it seems an empty activity to not use the meat or the fur. Not sure I fancy eating mink though.
It is a good indication of the damage the little creatures do that they have only trapped 376 mink in over 10,000 sq kilometres. That's a lot of territory per individual.
Mink struggle where Otters have made a comeback, and numbers fall. Which begs the question as to wether we should work harder to improve our waterways and fish stocks.
If we are going to cull lets make sure its humane and the pelts are used for furry pants.
