out work found some old plastic drainpipe chucked out so thought put a piece of wood or plastic on top make a great birdfeeder that the bl..dy squirrels cant get at (sometimes the simplest ideas are the best)there are some clever people on this forum what are your best tips ?????
There are all metal framed squirrel proof feeders sold at garden centres. I did have a plastic one, but one day when I came to the wood I found it 'trashed'- they simply chewed through the plastic and split it open. The one featured in my Jay Video is a wire-framed steel one, hanging on plastic coated green garden wire from a Hazel bough. There was no sign of the grain disappearing due to squizzers and the only video clips we had were of birds. A couple of times there was a squirrel on the ground underneath after spilt corn, but they didnt bother with the feeder itself as they couldn't get to the grain through the steel cage on the outside. The feeder cost something like £14.
we buy our's from ALDI or even pound stretcher, they normally cost around £4.99 each, but just recently bought another 3 in aldi's sale at £2.99 each, they have been hanging in the woods for well over a year and still going strong
