Just bought this book from Butterfly Conservation http://www.butterfly-conservation.org/product/286/Saving_Butterflies.html could be handy.
I am very interested to hear from anyone who spots a White Admiral, Silver-washed Fritillary or a Purple Emperor. These three priority butterflies will be on the wing from now on and it\'s very important to find out where these important species are.
Please post your sightings on the SWOG forum or contact me at [email protected]

Well done on getting the photo of White Admirals in your wood. Superb!..and great news for Mill Wood. It\'s great to see a photo of the butterfly in flight. They are wonderful flyers. The way to tell them apart from Purple Emperors is that White Admirals command the understorey whereas Purple Emporers stay in the canopy and only swoop down briefly to feed. The White Admiral population has been in decline and is a Biodiversity Priority Species (UKBAP) so well done on encouraging them in your wood.
We had a white admiral butterfly in our wood last week. I think I also saw a silver washed fritillary. We have had them in past years. We also saw a purple emporor in our woodland complex a couple of years ago. Other recent sitings are speckled wood and meadow brown. The woods are in east Hampshire.
