We are near Bromyard.

My local sawmill will tanalise for £1.10 per cubic foot, which is fairly cheap, but added to the cost of felling, extraction, handling and costs they start to become a bit expensive. Have you thought of selling it roadside for pulp or power stations?

I mainly deal in Chestnut so dont have to worry about it.

Yes if your interested I would hire it out.I couild possibly drop it in if I am travelling back that way.

Clearing spruce on a small scale by hand is always going to be uneconomic, the larger logs I can mill to add value, the smaller stuff I am logging up for firewood.

It may be uneconomic but I bet the wildlife is happy.

On the plus side modern tanalising fluid (post 2006 tanalith-e) is so rubbish fencers are looking for alternatives. They would rather pay more than have to do the job twice.

Thats why I specialise in chestnut and oak.

We bought a 35 year old Massey 188 multi-power at a local farm auction a couple of years ago. It is extremely useful. We certainly needed the power for clearance of the industrial level bramble infestation in our woods, and it is also very useful for lifting and moving logs around the site in the bucket. It is old, but does the job and isn't so attractive to thieves, although the power steering is slightly dubious. If we'd had the choice, a 165 might have been a better size, but we didn't have a choice.
