The last two times I've been to the woods has been rewarded by lots of new fungi. Being a fungi novice, it gives me a thrill to see stuff I've never (knowingly) seen before. Yesterday I ID'd a magnificent Stinkhorn being devoured by a giant slug, some small common puffballs, a flush of sulphur tuft on an old stump and lots of new birch polypores (razor strop). Last week I found some weird black things that are called earth tongues. There's loads of other stuff too that I haven't figured yet. Isn't owning a wood fascinating.
