Urea stump treatment

Trees and Plants!

Does anyone know of a mail order company that supplies small amounts (5-10kg) of urea (+dye) for treating cut conifer stumps?

Many thanks

Stephen

I do not see Urea listed - but hopefully they may know someone that might stock it

Stops 'Frome' infection, which can spread to other trees through root contact if you have 'sharp' soil.

James, I think the old thumbs might have come into play there - the disease is Fomes.

If the link works it takes one to a .pdf document about it.

The one thing I think you do need to be careful of if you use urea is things can become a bit more flammable when treated and dry. Having said that the stuff farmers use for fertilizer has to be made in such a way as to stop it being too flammable. I remember it was a favourite component of homemade bombs in various places - Nothern Ireland for one!So maybe any commercial urea is made this way now.

Hi Mate, It's 'can't be bothered to read it first', syndrome.

Our FC guy told me that if what you are doing is low impact then many people don't bother with stump treatment. He said I didn't need to worry about it.

There is a risk assessment tol the FC have, but I can't find the link to it.
