sometimes it can be dearer trying to keep them out rather than whats inside.

A farmer I know says that the bigger the lock you put on it the more that they will think that there is something worth taking inside..

re RichardKing - a builder doing mods in a student house we owned questioned why we needed locks on the bedroom doors - they only keep honest people out, he said.

But it had just been established that locks do NOT keep people out.
