Dunnit. Finally managed to get my password to work and actually log in. Problem was that I couldn't distinguish between zeros and Ohs, ells and ones etc. When I eventually worked out that I could request a new password and got one that wasn't so hard to interpret it was easy, it has only taken about a week! (As usual most of the problem was with the wetware).

Anyway Hi to all.

Hi Miles,

Hmmmm ...not quite sure what 'wetware' is, but welcome aboard where hopefully you'll find sanctuary and dry out a little.

We do have some problems with passwords on the board, I usually have to manually go into the system to 'approve' people's registration requests. This isn't instant like on some boards and sometimes we get a glitch in the system, but thanks for your tanacity and glad you got it sorted out!

cheers

Rich

Welcome Miles and sorry for your delay getting on here, We have become strict about memberships as we got rather bored of the porn ads. Well, I did anyway ;-)

On reflection, I didn't actually say anything about me by way of introduction, I was just so glad to have got things working and it quite went out of my head.

In the past my family has owned woodland in the South East(Oak standards with Chestnut coppice) and all my life I have spent many happy Summers (and Easters and in fact most any opportunity that presents itself) down there staying in the woods and doing woodland related activities with all the woodland related paraffinalia one associates with that activity.

Now I live in the North East in County Durham and was lucky enough to find 5 acres not too far away from where I live where I can continue my enjoyment of the woods and share it with my children and hopefully leave them with the same appreciation for things woodland related, and if we get a few logs for the fire when tidying up then that is a bonus.

It is mostly Larch ("How to recognise different types of tree from quite a long way a way...No 4 ") which is not my favourite tree or indeed what I have been used to but then again I have been rather spoiled in the past, but it is mine and I feel quite lucky to have it anyway.

So, a different style of management, different species, and different terrain all mean that I am starting from scratch once again learning about the wood and it's ways but then again no two woods seem quite alike in my experience.
