The journey begins.....

Having lurked in the shadows of the SWOG forum for some time, I thought it wise to join at some point so that I could introduce myself and thank you all for your shared collective knowledge on the broad range of subjects which this forum encompasses.

I hope to draw further on the knowledge base, as my wife and I begin our journey as owners of a very small wood within the National Forest in South Derbyshire. At the moment, the woodland we are in the process of purchasing is still very young, but we intend to increase the biodiversity of the plot, whilst developing part of the woodland into coppice over the long term. I've been interested in caring for a piece of woodland for some time, as i have regularly camped within woodland and copse (I believe it's referred to as 'bushcraft' now ) so I'm no stranger.....

Anyways, I (we) look forward to being a part of the forum

It seems from much of my research, that most of the forum regulars are in the south east. Are there any folks local to the Midlands?

Hi Bearwood, there are loads of members all over the country, but I think you are right, most of the regular posters on the forum are in the SE. Let's try get the others involved!

You are not far from us - there are a few of us up here in the Midlands in Warks/Staffs/Derbys. We are in Tamworth, just outside the National Forest. If you ever want to pop by and visit us, give us a shout. We are always happy to have a visit from SWOG members.
