We're a smallholding of about 14 acres. 7 acres mature hardwood mainly beech, some European redwoods, some rare rhodedendrons, a lot of ponticum and everything in between. The rest is grazing for sheep, two pig areas, a large polytunnel, allotment and an orchard.
My wood hasn't been managed for decades so I plan to bring it back into a working wood for foraging, pigs and wildlife. It's dense in there so I'll open it out through felling and coppice/replant as I go. I've sold the large natives to a local museum and will use rest for firewood log sales. I use an old Ford 4000 and husqvana 372xp. As a pro mountaineer I've no probs nipping up the tops.
Rest of my time is looking after 3 kids who are older and need me less...hence time to start on wood with earnest.
You've probably seen my place on the tv but I'm giving no more hints!
