How Far to your Wood ?

Say Hello and tell others about yourself and your wood.

A place to record the distance you travel to your wood - this is a an indication of luck ( in having a wood) and motivation in continually travelling to it.

Some wanted a wood close to themselves in Worcestershire -

John travels 200 miles to the wood in Wales from Essex

Another 200 yards

For the alternative in thinking style - the distance is the shortest distance ( as opposed to going around the world in the opposite direction until you get to the wood !!)

Me - 37 miles one way ( about one hour ) - Only go up when I can do at least a full day

About 30 to 40 minutes away depending on which way the wind is blowing ;)

92 miles - 1 1/2 hours through the quiet North Northumberland/Scottish Borders countryside. The drive is part of the pleasure and I'm happy to go there and back in a day. I often stop at Coldstream and watch them fishing on the river.

13 miles, each way Takes me half an hour. Ive been commuting there nearly every day for almost a year now, and although the journey is not yet irritating I am making plans to move closer because its such a beautiful area.

I go for a week, staying in our caravan. It takes about 4 hours, a bit longer if I tow a trailer. It's not too bad unless I get stuck in traffic. I normally go up round the bottom of Birmingham and then across, I come back on the M4 so I avoid the Bridge toll which is nearly £10. Not much in it in mileage. I can get the caravan warm fairly quickly, the trouble is the humidity.

Hello.

According to AA Route planner it is 113 miles and 2 hours 17 minutes.

Usually takes longer as it involves M1 and M25 with the inbuilt speed restrictions, 50 mph (so good for the world and I often have a trailer so restricted anyway).

Speed restrictions were not in place when we bought the wood so have done the journey in 2 hours 17 minutes but only once or twice.

Have been for the day but normally stay a day or more. I've done it so many times, I switch off and then "hey presto" I arrive in nature.

Takes me about 2.5 hours though only 100 miles away. I do sometimes go there and back in a day but with a full days work packed in its knackering. Close to my family though so works when i have longer. i would be there everyday if it were nearby and i miss it sometimes.

Sods luk a new wood has appeared on the market 20 minitues from me, not very big but if i had the cash i would buy it....waited years to see if any came up locally without luck... typical.

We are so lucky. Just over a mile as the crow flies, about 1.5 miles on the road, 5 minutes max by car, and about 30 minutes walk (the footpaths are less direct than the road), 10 minutes by bicycle (although rarely do this as we always have so much stuff to carry).

We are around 40 miles or an hour from ours. Seems a good distance as it is definately worth camping which we do a lot(for forestry reasons obviously!!) But we also go for a day to work or just have lunch.
