Prices have gone up considerably since 2006. I paid £50k at auction and sold last quarter 2011 at £130k . No changes to the wood except clearing a log storage area.

I still think they're a good investment now, and will be buying or more likely planting some more soon.

I've like to stress emphatically that for the small woodland owner, the value is not what profit you could make, its being custodian of a natural micro-environment and the huge pleasure this should bring. The reason we buy them is to escape this curious human tendency to look at everything in terms of 'money' rather than greater ecological value. (Not being able to see the trees for the paper).

These may well be your reasons, but can you be so sure that every other small woodland owner has the same motive behind their purchase?
