Cripes - its January

Topics that don't easily fit anywhere else!

Cripes - its January - and the bird boxes have not been cleared out from last year

Suddenly realised the job was outstanding so, yesterday, part of the entertainment was to sort out.

A thought in passing...

Squirrels have been widening some of the entrance holes on the wooden boxes -

would the application of Bitrex to the wood around the entrance hole act as deterrent to squirrels ?

( Bitrex - the worlds most bitterest substance)

Is this: a good idea / a rubbish idea / cruel / a suitable strategy -

some thoughts or alternatives - welcome

Wooden boxes are also vulnerable side wall attack from woodpeckers. We've switched over to boxes made of Woodcrete. You could fit Nest Box Plates to your existing wooden boxes.
