This looks potentially very interesting. Starts 17th October on BBC4.

Okay I'll be watching -could be interesting... But clearly, from the blurb in the link, a very specific perspective is going to be held. The wood he's working with was "abandoned" and the first priority was to get Wyndham Morgan to help him make the "wild wood" "safe"...

By the way Iliff Simey is a very interesting bloke;

In my oppinion Iliff has the right answers - although perhaps not always arrived at for reasons that match the empirical evidence of the science in this area.

His method seeks to mimic old growth forest; he creates small glades and manipulates some early-mature trees to give them the characteristics (rot holes etc.) of much older trees. Well worth visiting his site.

Edited as requested.

With no TV and a dongle for our internet, we're not going to see it until tomorrow, so we'll have to see if it's as good as it sounds then.

We watched it this morning. Really enjoyed it. For anyone who missed it, it's repeated this evening and on Sunday.

I enjoyed it too. Its the nearest thing to what many of us are involved in, and we should be pleased that our subject is getting some attention, however general. of course no mention of permissions, licences, livestock rules, chainsaw training, etc, but your man is easy to watch, and its better than the usual patronising countryside pap. well done Beeb 4.
