Autumn Colours

Hello

Maybe I am getting old(er) and appreciating nature more BUT has anyone else noticed the colours of the leaves lately

It feels to me that the trees are more resplendent than ever

Has this been caused by wet summer or other acts of nature such as global cooling/warming (depending on what you read) or am I just a romantic old person?

Strange maybe a bit different where you are Bernie, because I remarked the other day that the colours were late coming this year! Alot them, like the oak for example, still seem almost as green as they were in summer.

I even convinced myself of a plausable explanation that the summer had been so wet and miserable they were hangng on desparately hoping for a few extra sunny days

i'm of the same thinking as you rich - i don't think the autumn colours are very good at all - in fact around our way many of the leaves are dropping - and they are still green / only slightly yellowing

bad year for nuts too - our chestnuts have dropped early and nowhere near fat enough to eat - but the squirrels are still collecting what they can - so they might end up hungry, especially if cold weather sets in hard and early

this year has been a wash out - and i'm fed up with it - so just as well we don't have many more months of it - roll on 2013

Yellow / Orange / Red are the colours here in the North i.e Bucks. Am in the woods next week so maybe our own will be more green

I was thinking the tree's were holding out a little longer for some sun, before winter came in.

Been a good year for grass, but awful for pretty much everything else.

yep, grass and mud......
