Photos Wanted for Insurance Web Site

Postby docsquid » Wed Feb 06, 2013 4:43 pm

I have been contacted by Gary Alexander of The Beech Tree, who needs photos of woodland to form the background on their quotation web site. They are looking for one picture for each season - this is what he says:-

"On another matter, our IT people have asked me for some nice woodland
pictures to form the background on the quote website. I offered pictures
of my beech but apparently the size of the pics was all wrong! Would any
SWOG members like to donate a pic or two? We're looking for one for each
season."

If you can help, I've got Gary's contact details, or look at their web site. It doesn't look like they are going to pay for any photos though.

Hi and thanks for posting this request. I've had an offer or two from woodland owners and although the IT people didn't mention payment, I'm sure I could find a way to adjust insurance pricing if you are with us!

Would a fallen ash tree be of help?
(probably got a higher resolution original somewhere)

On second thoughts... this is what insurance is about, if that ash had fallen on a fence or road for example...
I'll give them the link if that's ok?

That ash tree looks amazingly like a beech to me.

The stump fell back into its crater when the neighbour popped round for his tree and cut it up (still there, definitely ash).
I was going to have a few lumps for turning, but there was spongy rot most of the way up, ironically similar to the spalted black line effects in beech. With up to 6 feet of water a few times a year they all seem to survive to a reasonable age, but with an increased risk to the integrity of their roots and a few years off their expected lifespan.
There are a couple of impressive oak, lime and walnut trees near-by at the same level too as well as a fantastic old orchard
