fruit trees need plenty of light and fresh air - so better on a south side boundary (we have a couple of fruit trees in our patch ;) )

Don't plant them in pots unless well insulated because of the risk of freezing - I think it is better to stick them in the ground until needed. Interesting that they are sold with a rootball inside a plastic bag at this time of year.

Fruit trees at the "edge" are a great idea, but not too many in a group. Mix with some hazel?
