Lymes Disease Petition

Postby Rich » Fri Mar 01, 2013 8:09 am

There is an online petition asking the government to increase public awareness of this tick-borne infection. Many of us already know about the issues as woodland owners, but it still needs all the publicity it can get.

Hello All
We keep a tick remover, that is a small tool that twists and removes the tick including the mouth. They are available for well under £5 on Ebay (other suppliers exist). We haven't been ticked, may be all the garlic we eat?

It's worth checking youself over at the end of the day (even better get someone to do it for you)

My dad used to regularly come in after a day at work (as a forester) and have to be de-ticked.
From memory the biggest total for 1 day was 175
The dogs were regularly checked as well and my sister as a veterinary nurse has a lot of experience of tick bite fever in animals.
Thankfully none of us have ever had Lymes, but know a few who have and it is not good.
