Can anyone suggest good fiction that is about or set in woodland. I have The Woodlanders by Hardy but haven't read it yet! but can't think of any others?

Hello

Lord of the Rings has walking trees

Little Red Riding Wood

Harry Potter has a woody part

In my mind all easier than Hardy

Not completely woodland immersed stories (or a comprehensive list), but some woodland content and element:

The Ballad of Tam Lin (traditional / various re-tellings and re-authorings) http://www.tam-lin.org/
Winter Rose, followed by Solstice Wood, Patricia A. McKillip
The Book of Lost Things, John Connolly

Tom Mc Craughren 'Run With the Wind' is a children's book series set in Ireland about a family of foxes

It won awards and is an easy read

What I didn't notice when I read it years ago were the reference to the environs which I now see and understand (possibly and at my own level) around me as a woodland owner

Well worth a borrow from the library or buying if you have children
