Climate Change

Postby oldclaypaws » Fri Sep 27, 2013 8:28 am

Todays UN report predicts a temperature rise of up to 4.8 degrees by 2100, and a rise in sea levels of up to 82cm. Although few of us are likely to live long enough to witness the full chaos of this, the implications are terrifying. If accurate, the world as we know it will change out of all recognition; extremes of weather; existing species disappearing and unfamiliar ones multiplying, food shortages, new diseases, mass migrations and huge social unrest.

You may be a climate change denier (?) , but I believe a majority of intelligent people agree the weather is changing and there are visible changes hitting the natural environment. Do you agree climate change is visibly here? How do you think it will affect our woodlands, our daily lives, and the future (if any) direction of the human race? Are you already seeing changes in your wood at all and does this prospect make you think differently about what you should be doing in your wood?

just enjoy the wood, for what it is at this moment in time, I doubt anything that we do, good or bad, will have any effect whatsoever on what is bound to happen anyway

Climate has been changing since the world began - its never been stable. Weather and climate are different though. We've had some extremes of weather in recent times but I don't think that has been associated with a climatic trend (according to the met office anyway).

Kali Yuga

According to Hindu faith this is the age of Kali Yuga
In some calculations it started on 14th January 3102 BC. This date is also considered by many Hindus to be the day that Krishna left Earth to return to his abode.
Most interpreters of Hindu scriptures believe that Earth is currently in Kali Yuga. The Kali Yuga is sometimes thought to last 432,000 years, although other durations have been proposed.

Attributes of Kali Yuga
Hindus believe that human civilization degenerates spiritually during the Kali Yuga, which is referred to as the Dark Age because in it people are as far away as possible from God.
A discourse in holy scripture (Mahabharata) identifies some of the attributes of Kali Yuga.
In relation to rulers, it lists:
Rulers will become unreasonable: they will levy taxes unfairly.
Rulers will no longer see it as their duty to promote spirituality, or to protect their subjects: they will become a danger to the world.
People will start migrating, seeking countries where wheat and barley form the staple food source.

With regard to human relationships:
Avarice and wrath will be common. Humans will openly display animosity towards each other.
People will have thoughts of murder with no justification and will see nothing wrong in that.
Lust will be viewed as socially acceptable and sexual intercourse will be seen as the central requirement of life.
Sin will increase exponentially, whilst virtue will fade and cease to flourish.
People will take vows and break them soon after.
People will become addicted to intoxicating drinks and drugs.
Gurus (Teachers) will no longer be respected and their students will attempt to injure them. Their teachings will be insulted.

This was all written a very long time ago but any way I think we will get through it
