Couple of videos here: -

How to deal with a hung-up tree when felling trees up to 380mm

How to cross cut timber using the boring technique to prevent trapping your chainsaw

There's some interesting stuff later on about how chain profile and bar shape affect the characteristics of the chain, such as reducing kickback around the nose of the bar.

No suggestions for trees over 380mm then? I've two beauties and the only solution would seem either leave them there as deadwood and generally avoid them, or winch them off. Anyone got much experience of winching big un's, what load capacity Tirfor would be better for big oaks, 3500 kg, or would 2400kg suffice?

This one about 80 ft long, maybe 700mm at the base and probably 3 Tons (?)

This chap similar length, about 450mm at base, well hung up in another oak.
