Furniture

I'd be very interested to see images of any furniture any of you have made, particularly very simple and rustic items, including benches, seats, stools and tables.

Although I'm considering a mobile sawmill, I'm also very drawn to crude primitive country furniture, it has a fantastic charm and simplicity. This guy is very good;

His Oak table is stunning;

No, not 'Paws', that's 'Mr Chippendale' to you. 15 minutes with a chainsaw and one piece of oak. Not bad for a first attempt. :D

A bench I made for the kids when they were small out of a single 2ft length of Holly, about 7" in diameter.
All held together with a single screw.
If I made another one I would angle the legs out to the ends of the bench.

I wasn't thinking of asking the V & A if they wanted to acquire it, but apart from being wet, it does keep the bum off the ground in the wood, and it is recognisable as a simple stool- hopefully (?) It was literally 15 minutes on a oak log which would otherwise be firewood.

You're just jealous, that genuine peasant look takes years of unsophistication and lack of practice to acquire. I'll bet the holy grail had rough edges too.

Gimmee a lump of clay and I can almost pass as a craftsman. The 'trophy' is decorated in platinum and was a prestigious commission for Waitrose to commemorate a leading member of the organic movement & pal of HRH Prince of Wales. The 2 handled vase is 1.5 metres high- and hand thrown on a wheel.

This is the video on how to make a simple stool with a chainsaw which I followed. Pretty quick and easy, looks better than just a stump. I'm going to make a few for friends as gifts for the garden.
