What do you know about smoke control areas with respect to burning wood in your woodland if it lies within a local authority that has one in force?

The Defra website talks about what type of manufactured fuel you are allowed to burn with regard to your fireplace or wood burning stove. There is a long list of these but seems to it seems to miss out actual real logs! I can't see mention of having a fire in your garden either (read woodland for us). I guess that's because they create smoke and that's what the clean air act is there to prevent. Well I say there's no fire without smoke when burning logs so presumable you're not allowed to.
