Found this bit of kit on Fleabay, and a video of it in use on Youtube which is most entertaining. Looks like a great bit of kit, especially with the winch attached. Shame its beyond my budget, it would be perfect for what I need to sensitivity move logs through the wood with minimum impact. What with Christmas coming and me being such a nice chap, if anyone wants to get it for me as a surprise present that would be jolly decent of you, I might even give you a bottle of my excellent Elderberry wine in gratitude.

Yes, it seems your buddies do make tractors, here's some clips of their most reliable models in action, driven by highly trained operators demonstrating years of experience and safety training. Classic. I hope the guy got out of the ice?

certainly looks a nice bit of kit, and adaptable to other uses probably.

On the other hand, would have thought your situation would be better served with a chainsaw mill to board up the oaks and then walk them out or adapt a logging arch with some nice wide quad type tyres since you should come away with some big heavy boards??

Yes Terry, its a cunning bit of kit which I thought everyone would enjoy watching, but I wasn't proposing to get one, its quite expensive. For the budget I'd be better off as you say with an ATV and logging arch, or compact tractor. I'll cut upper boughs and irregular bits myself with a chainsaw mill as you say, but for the big straight valuable butts they'll probably be milled with a hired bandsaw once I've digested the various shifting and marketing options, but that's another discussion. Very busy currently spending most of each day working in the wood clearing a site for my shed and extra parking, now that my previously mangled mitt is functioning reasonably.
