Don't feel guilty :-) People are entitled to their own opinions but for me I would only buy a wood if children were allowed to enjoy nature, wildlife and have fun in them.

Also, would 30 ish children in a 5 acre wood be to much?

I think that works out to be about 674 m2 per child !!

When saying it like that I think it sounds a better option.

Hi,

We bought a 39 acre wood from Cleggs last year(Herefordshire) - no covenant and full rights included ( mineral / sporting etc. ),freehold.

However its a solo wood surrounded by fields.

We do have two seperate right of access across an orchard and another across a field.

We have allowed a neighbour to shoot occasionally when we are NOT there and received lots of pheasants, a couple of ducks and a shoulder of deer.

We live 35 miles away, and the neighbour seems to keep a good eye on the wood.

It's worked well, I stop in for a tea and chat most weeks.

As with living in a house it's about common sense. I found just getting on with your neighbours is good, helping each other out etc. We hear chainsaws, tractors, children and shotguns all the time. Just the noise of the woods being used.
