I haven’t got any signs up but was actually thinking of putting something up along the lines of “Private Property Warning Shooting”. Not sure if it will make much difference but at least they can’t plead ignorance.

For your dog problem has the local council got a dog warden. If they have they may be willing to help, if only with advice. We had a problem with a local dog chasing deer and they they threatened the owner with enforcement action.

As for the happy campers we have found that the only effective deterent is to haunt the place, dificult if you live at a distance.

Although this does\'nt always work we, got a phone call last Saturday morning

telling us we had 5 tents pitched in the woods. My son and I visited them and did our Mr Grumpy act, they promised to clean up and leave imediatly. When we went back later they had cleaned all their litter in to one of their tents and left it, we had to remove the litter but we now have a brand new two man tent.

Incidently the phone call came from one of our regular dog walkers who all have our phone number and do tell us if they see something.

Just remembered...How about keeping bees on your land with a sign warning the public that there are bee hives in the woods. It was one of the ideas we had when we had people walking down our ride.

Nosey neighbours are a godsend. Everyone who walks dogs or otherwise walks near our wood has our phone number and has promised to tell us if anything is amiss. So far only one tiny bivouac a few years ago; we were there only for the day and missed the occupants; we deduced they read Russian novels and we heard they drove a C4. We left them a vase of wild flowers.

The problem with bees is that some kids think that it is a challenge to push them over. We did keep bees in our wood for a bit, and although they were not pushed over, someone had a good try. They are also sometimes stolen.

Hi all as far as dangerous dogs are conserned many of the comments above cover them but one observation as a former council employee is that you can get devices that will disable a dog ( using sound alone) these where issued to the county rights of way teams after a number of incidents they should of course be used as a last resort but are very affective with dangerous and out of controle dogs altought not sure what affect they have of the owners of sed Muts.

hope this is of help
