I suggested to one neighbor that if he wanted any logs he could cut some up in my woods, I have a lot of fallen trees,and I would deliver them for him using the quad. He has just been out and bought 2 loads at £70 a shot.

Another friend had his log shed filled last year as he did about a days work helping to clear a glade where we had a BBQ. I get the message that more logs would be appreciated this year but I see no sign of the quid pro quo as he is very busy, he is retired. I am not mean and if it was the other way around I would fly at the chance to have some logs in exchange for some fun time in a wood but if I have to spend my precious wood time supplying logs for free when I might just as well sell them for badly needed money. ( and I felt like slipping an expletive in there)

Sell them, I'm getting £20 for 12 bags of softwood at the minute.

£20 for 12 bags doesn't seem a lot I'd charge about £3 each bag.

Hang on, how big is a "bag"?

Not very is the answer JB - plus it's unsplit softwood loosely jammed into 18 x 24 inch bags - sold as job lots on fleabay. Mind you the people who buy it so far seem desperate for more. The last guy even wanted a load of green wood now so he didnt get caught out next winter. I'm still exploring the price curve - 18 bags seems the most profitable at the minute. I can add value by splitting it.

I might a BIN on it next time out.

That size seems to be the same size Homebase sell there bags for £6,99! Ans it's unsplit birch thinnings.

I think the problem is that here in Wales there is plenty of wood and there is less demand, I guess one way to sell would be to fill 1 ton bags but that starts to feel like work and brings on my allergy, I don't mind giving my neighbor some but I am not doing all the work.
