good luck
we are starting using oil drums to make charcoal from beech regrowth, if it works out we have a friend with a farm shop/butcher where we can try selling it from
For our sins we produce BBQ & artists drawing charcoal here in West Sussex. We have a local outlet in Cowfold for the BBQ stuff and we also sell to others as and when (we have also started looking to supply those into blacksmithying and farriers with the smaller size charcoal, so if you know anyone who wants to try it we do 10Kg bags). We sold the artists charcoal at a woodfair last year - for some reason it sold extremely well! I am also working with some artists to perfect larger sizes - upwards of 1/2" for those with a penchant for bold scribbling!
So, Kentish man - if you come this way at all we're more than happy to sell you some bags but may be not really worht the petrol just for the trip!

Richard,
Not sure if you were directing your question to me but we don't sell to B&Q - not sure we would even if they wanted us to. Having said that I noticed that Sainsburys are stocking stuff from the Bioregional charcoal Co. - 3Kg bags selling at...........................................................................£7.99!!!!!!!
I just wonder what the producers get from that. I sell it retail at £5.50 and trade £3.99
Still they are only doing it 'cos they want to support the local producers and look after the countryside - oh and the world domination of the charcoal business in this country never crossed thier minds....
