Wet

Topics that don't easily fit anywhere else!

I arrived at the woods last Saturday, the rain was coming down so hard I had to sit for ten minutes before I could get out of the truck to open the gates. Every thing was as I had left it over a month ago, except my neighbour had delivered a nice load of larch that we had collected on my last visit, it had been felled in the grounds of an retirement home and was going to be left to rot.

I had a good day on Sunday milling and loaded the 2inch thick boards straight on my trailer. Monday the rain started and did not stop for 48 hours.

Some prefered to stay indoors.

The sun appeared briefly so I got the camera out.

The rain soon returned and after getting soaked while felling a few spruce I decided to call it a day and travelled home a day early.

Martin, my neighbouring farmer called in to see me on Monday evening, he works on the farm during the day then most evening he is out doing contract hedging and fencing. He is a bit of a bull in a china shop and recently told me he had had to hide their new telehandler in the barn so his son did not spot the damage to the machine's bonnet ,where a branch from a tree he was felling landed.

Anyhow , he turned up with a big bandage on his arm. He had just finished hedging for the day , had turned the saw off and was walking back to his pickup when he tripped and as he fell his arm got wedged between the chain brake handle and the exhaust causing a nasty burn on his arm.

Hi John

Thank you - I would like to put your pictures in the next newsletter (November) as there wasn't room to display them properly in this month's one - it is lovely to hear about what people get up to in their woods!
