Weald Woodfair 2010

Topics that don't easily fit anywhere else!

Weald Woodfair 2010 - Another fantastic event - brilliantly organised, and with record attendance figures. However, sales went very slowly for me - did anyone else find the same?

Hi John

We was next to you and found sales very slow. Sadly I won't be doing it again next year. I'll be with the coppice group next time. Strange thing is I have done well at other wood fairs.

I simply dont understand how people (potential customers) decide what they are going to buy, assess the value of items and what they are prepared to pay.

Last year I was attempting to sell some footstools, Oak top, cleft Ash legs with through tennons wedged in Oak, wax polished. Took several hours work to make each one, yet I was only asking £35 quid each, sold one !

Mushrooms took less than an hour each of chainsawing & power sanding, sold six !
