I think the only way you can deal with this onslaught of spam is ask the person who is joing to email a short reason why they want to join.

Yes I think we are going to have to tighten up the procedure for registering and possibly posting. One of the good things about a forum like this is that it is very easy to join and post, the down side being that we can be open to spammers. Nigel is kindly testing a plugin which should do the job, at the expense of making it slightly more cumbersome to administer.

vbulletin! I get a ton of spammers but they dont get approved so they can't post. Once the spambots have this web address the problems will just get worse.

Just to let you know, we have tightened up security around here! If you wish to post you will need to be approved first, please be patient. Hopefully this will sort the spam!
